In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.” John 1:1-5

Lots of Christians think that this verse is refering to the Bible and it isn’t. Yes, the Bible is the word of God. But that isn’t what this verse is refering to. It’s actually Jesus. Jesus is the Word. Jesus was with God and is God. Later on in the text it says “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory. The glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” I don’t know about you but my Bible isn’t made out of flesh. πŸ™‚ (Okay, leather, but that’s different.) It’s all about putting it into context.

In the beginning was the Word
And the Word was with God
And the Word was God

The same was the beginning with God
All things were made by Him
And without Him was not anything made

In Him was Life! And the Life was the Light of men.
And the Light shineth in darkness.
And the darkness comprehended Him not.

He was in the world and the world was made by Him
And the world knew Him not
He came unto His own
And His own received Him not

For behold darkness covers the earth
And the darkness hangs over the people
But the Lord arises upon you
And His glory shall be seen in you

Arise! Shine! For your Light has come!
And the glory of the Lord rises upon you.

Nations will run to the radiant glow of Your Light
Far away kings will awake to the light of Your dawning

Arise! Shine! For your Light has come!
And the glory of the Lord rises upon you.

So I miss cantata. So sue me. πŸ™‚
